Every state now requires prospective agents to receive a pre-determined number of credit hours in a state approved real estate course to obtain your real estate license. This means that you have to attend some sort of real estate school or training before you can take the licensing exam that is provided by the Real Estate Commission. Now this typically wouldn’t be a problem, except that these days real estate schools vary so widely that choosing the best real estate school can be pretty difficult.
Online real estate schools began popping up in the mid to late nineties, which introduced a whole new level of options. Online schools offer a unique advantage in that they allow you to study at your own pace and around your schedule. So if you like many of us, work during the day, an online school gives you the opportunity to continue working while you fulfill your duties at your current job. Now don’t run off thinking that online real estate courses are the only way to go. In fact, many people find that they receive a better education from attending a real school, rather than taking online courses. Many of these physical schools do offer evening and weekend classes, but they do tend to cost a little more. This is primarily due to the fact that they have to pay instructors to work with you.
So which one do you choose? I recommend that you decide based on your learning ability. If you feel more comfortable in a classroom environment, where you have the ability to interact with other students and teachers, then you should go that route. However, if attending courses just doesn’t fit your schedule, or you learn better on your own at your own pace, then an online school is the way to go. Just lay everything else on the side, and think about which type of education will benefit you the most, when you figure that out you are ready to get started.
